About the Featured Author


Katya Lichauco is a 26-year-old writer, editor, and women’s empowerment advocate. She graduated from Ateneo de Manila University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, tracks in Communication and Political Science, as well as a minor in English Literature. She received a First Class Honours Certificate from SOAS University of London’s Academic Summer School
2020 for the Gender and Conflict Online Course.

Katya is the Founder and Managing Editor of Big Deal: An Anthology of Filipino Women’s Stories and Art published in 2021, which was a compilation of works of Gen Z and Millennial Filipinas that aimed to recognize the inherent beauty of women lifting up other women while celebrating the myriad ways there are to tell a story. In 2022, she published her second book, Fearless Filipinas II: 24 Women Who Dared to Dream––of which she served as Co-Author and Managing Editor.

She has had various speaking engagements from moderating the Women’s Leadership Summit with women’s rights advocate Senator Risa Hontiveros on her book Healthy Buhay, Happy Mama, to being invited as the guest speaker at Zonta International’s 16 Days of Activism Solidarity Walk: Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women and Children. She has spoken at Google Philippines and served as a panelist on Politics4Her’s Feminists Across Borders panel on Intersectional Feminism.

Katya has also guested on the shows Flipping the Narrative, Her Lega-Z, Lundagin Mo Beybeh! and 89.9FM’s Boys Night Out.

Her work has been featured in ABS-CBN, adobo magazine, Philstar, and BusinessWorld Online.

Currently, Katya is a Content & Social Media Associate at Kindred Health, the first hybrid women’s clinic in the Philippines. She is also a Key Opinion Leader of UNIPLAT, advocating for the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality. Through writing and storytelling, she hopes to highlight the importance of recording Philippine women’s history, ongoing struggles, and joys, to empower the next generation.
