Doha, Qatar – As part of the Qatar Innovation Week organized by Trescon, the inaugural edition of World 5G Show kicked-off in Doha yesterday with over 200 attendees that included top telecommunications service providers and senior-level decision-makers from enterprises and governments. The conference essentially centered on Qatar’s vision of stimulating business opportunities and strategies among stakeholders to catalyze the creation of 5G-based solutions in Qatar. Day two of Qatar Innovation Week will also include the 13th global edition of World AI Show that is taking place on 26th November 2019 at the Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl – Doha.
World 5G Show featured powerful keynotes, tech talks and panel discussions on 5G technology from some of the major telecom stakeholders such as Salma Mohamed Alsulaiti, Head of Standards and Next Generation Technology at CRA; Gilad Garon, CEO of ASOCS, USA; Ayush Sharma, Head of Programmable Networking and Intelligence at Sterlite Technologies; Diego Camberos, Chief Operating Officer at Vodafone Qatar and Jim Clarke, Chief Commercial Officer at GBI Qatar among other top speakers.
Speakers touched upon major topics of discussions such as ‘How to successfully deploy 5G critical infrastructure on time and on a budget’; ‘The Impact of 5G across industries with new services and applications’ and ‘Achieving Digital Transformation using 5G’. While delivering a technical presentation on 5G best practices around the world, Sameer Gupta, Principal for Analysys Mason quoted, “The regulators in most parts of the world are primarily focussing on facilitating infrastructure build-out, updating spectrum regulations to ensure that operators get the right amount of spectrum in the right frequency band, allowing new industry participants to drive service innovation.”
Salma Mohamed Alsulaiti, Head of Standards and NextGen Technology at CRA gave a comprehensive Government Keynote on how 5G will change lives. Her presentation gave key insights on how Stakeholders should collaborate to ensure the proper and cost-effective implementation of 5G networks to develop a new ecosystem. She also emphasized on how governments play a critical role in the early 5G launches by developing clear ICT Roadmaps.
