We learn much more about ourselves throughout our healing process and just as much about the people around us. In an interview with Gresson Peiffer, the author of “Sharing My Light and Healing Energy,” she sheds light on how her journey transformed how she views her interactions with others, helped her balance time for herself, and enabled her to help others on their paths.
Starting with the self
Peiffer, who defines her healing journey as “reconnecting with the Universe, [her] inner child, and higher self,” touches upon the essentiality of taking time for ourselves while we heal. Whether by writing in a personal diary or discovering a new hobby, we ultimately learn to be attuned to our feelings, strengthening our self-awareness and inner confidence. This equips us with the strength to accept our flaws and the understanding to embrace ourselves wholly.
Moreover, Peiffer mentions how gaining a “reconnection with yourself first” is crucial “before looking for a potential partner.” By reconnecting with ourselves, we reflect on our needs and our roles in our interactions with others. Recognizing these would enable us to more openly communicate about them to our potential partners and contribute to a sense of stability in our relationships.
Opening up to others
On the other hand, Peiffer acknowledges that reconnecting with ourselves does not automatically mean we’re ready to connect with others. “It isn’t easy keeping my heart open because it’s afraid to be loved and to love,” admits Peiffer, mirroring the doubt we feel amidst our healing process. Instead of feeling ashamed about keeping to ourselves, we may think of this as our hearts’ way of protecting our emotional vulnerability and giving us more time to collect ourselves. It’s uncomfortable, but Peiffer says, “I’m confident I will get there one day at a time.” With this, she also underlines the importance of remaining kind to ourselves, not rushing the process, and appreciating every step we take toward improvement.
Peiffer assures us that this process will be worth it, as once we recognize more of our self-worth, we “will automatically attract the right people.” There will be people who will understand how to treat us, respect our boundaries and needs, and help us love ourselves more.
Sharing growth
Peiffer remains a positive example of healing and self-care, which she embodies in her well-acclaimed book, “Sharing My Light and Healing Journey,” and in her personal life. When asked about interacting with negative and judgmental people, Peiffer says she “does [her] best to understand where they were coming from.” Her patience and empathy convey how healing has opened her eyes to her feelings and others. Similarly, gaining this emotional maturity would help us recognize what we can and can’t control, such as how Peiffer “cleanses [her] energy every morning and evening” to prevent negativity from draining her.
In terms of her writing, Peiffer says it brings her “a sense of fulfillment and joy when [she] helps to uplift other people.” To her, writing gives her an avenue to process her experiences and discover her identity more profoundly, and in turn, influencing others to do the same. “It gives me a great feeling that my pain can be turned into purpose,” she remarks. Peiffer’s journey serves as an inspiration for all of us to embrace our journeys and appreciate our growth.
