“I could see the rays of the sun wanting to come through to assist me. The light was available to me all this time. I didn’t see how much wounding I had inside because I wasn’t aware of it.”
My friend once told me a story of how she almost took her life.
“Why didn’t you?” I asked.
She gave no answer. As we continued to walk, at some point, I asked her again, “Why didn’t you?”
She told me she had wanted to live for herself and others, for God.
Why do we live? What and who do we live for?
In Gresson Peiffer’s Sharing My Light & Healing Energy: Journey to True Self, she talks about her struggle to overcome adversities and unlock her potential. She provides advice and strategies to help people with their personal growth and shares how she turned certain challenges in her life into something positive. Light is innate; we only need to look harder to feel it better. There is power in being grateful for what you have and learning how to use it for good. Gresson lays down step-by-step guidelines that worked for her.
The concept she kept talking about that really resonated with me was universal energy—something I could also relate to. Not a lot of people would normally point it out, and I liked that she was able to bring it up. When we start to reflect on what makes us feel the way we feel, we learn so much about ourselves and how we connect with our surroundings. Throughout her subsections, she found ways to balance things by incorporating positive elements.
The author openly talked about the importance of triggers as well, and how to rise above them. She also gives her own checklist of destructive energies, which are the following:
Destructive Energies
-
Shame: being embarrassed
-
Guilt: blaming yourself
-
Apathy: feeling indifferent, lacking enthusiasm
-
Grief: feeling loss
-
Fear: worrying about the outcome of certain situations
-
Desire: wanting something too much
-
Anger: shouting, losing temper
-
Pride: letting ego get in the way, resistance
She then balances these with more creative energies that lead to expansion:
Creative Energies
-
Courage: the strength to come out of a comfort zone
-
Neutrality: not being dependent on anyone
-
Willingness: the motivation and determination to do something
-
Acceptance: flowing through life with ease
-
Love: being pure and caring
-
Joy: feeling grateful and abundant
-
Peace: feeling calm and content
-
Enlightenment: aligning with one’s soul and staying true to oneself
Gresson encourages everybody to open up and share their stories, especially if it could help others keep pushing through life, to keep fighting. For it is in sharing each other’s light that we are able to become more than ourselves, to serve something greater than ourselves.
When I found out that I had trauma, and some people (who meant well) advised me to seek the help of a professional, I was reluctant at first. The more I tried to get rid of whatever it was as soon as possible, the more it gained control over me. It was through accepting it that I discovered ways to live above it. I learned how to gain power over it somehow.
But of course, acceptance does not necessarily mean that you won’t do anything to change at all. It means knowing what to retain and what to let go of. And yes, as Gresson mentioned, it is a process that doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a series of failures and victories. The road to happiness may seem complex when really, it’s simple. Funny thing about life: it finds a way to distort simplicity, which then makes things complicated.

It really is an extensive journey—but it gets better. After several years, you’ve made a collection of things that hold you back from achieving what you want—from who you want to be—from happiness. When we are able to focus on what really matters, we become more resilient in fighting to live the life we want and ought to live.
Gresson also tackles Reiki, a type of Japanese alternative healing, on all levels. It is said to possess the power to open the door to creation, which, once activated, will remain for life and be accessible. Despite her father leaving her heartbroken because she was never allowed to be herself, she perceived it as something that opened the door to many possibilities. This led her to find out that she is a healer. Reiki helped get her energy harmonized and in sync with her soul.
In the subsection Taking Back Control Over My Life, Gresson stated:
“Our life is already abundant. We just get caught up in illusions and need to cut through them in order to see the real truth that I am revealing at this moment. Nothing is like it seems. Taking back my power has helped me realize a lot. All it takes is a growth mindset, an openness, and a willingness to push through with certain changes.”
Healing is not self-beneficial; it’s an infectious energy that benefits the people around you, just as destructive energy can affect others negatively. This book includes several exercises that may help you take the first step toward a better you.
